Day 66 of 100

I have painted a few times in the past couple months. Floundering, not knowing which direction to go. Today I went through my reference photos for trees. This is a photo of trees in my backyard. I am trying to draw a clear line between my life and my art. I am interested in the juxtaposition of organic and geometric, order and chaos, complexity and simplicity, light and dark.

Day 65 of 100

Wifi is acting funny today. I gave up using my phone and switched to my iPad, which does not have a  good camera. I decided to go back to leaves today. I finally went through a stack of clutter that was next to my bed and I found leaves that I was saving because I thought I would draw them. I picked them up during a walk last fall. At least these were dry and pressed between paper towels. At school this past weekend I found leaves in plastic bags that also were from last fall. Those were moldy and smelly. Yuk.
I love the shape of oak leaves.
It is late. I am too tired to focus on the details. I reverted to my habit of scribble shading.

Day 64 of 100

At church this morning, I was late. I decided to go to the chapel instead of entering the sanctuary late. This wood carving is at the front. The full thing says, "Do this in remembrance of me." I felt the phrase "Do this" was speaking to me today.

Still drawing knitting. This time I did the background color first. It seemed to need something more so I added those mountains in the background after the drawing of the knitting was done. Not sure if that was a good idea. Not sure what is going on here. Curious.

Day 63 of 100

Background is Tombow pens. Knitting is Staedtler .3mm pens. Light blue first, and then the other colors. Brown last for darkest shadows.

I did a long tail cast on of 5 stitches.

Knitting seems to be holding my interest so I'm going with it.

Day 62 of 100

This was drawn on December 30. Currently I seem to be interested in knitting, Op art designs, trees, radial designs. Not as much the rocks and water right now. I enjoy drawing in pen. I can sit in my comfy chair and draw from life.
This was drawn today. I used a reference photo my daughter took of my hands. I am starting a new goal and so I thought a picture of casting on was appropriate. When doing a long tail cast on you need to guess at how much yarn to pull out. If it is not enough, you have to start over. If it is too much, it goes to waste.

I will still finish these 100 days.

My new goal is to have 100 finished drawings and/or paintings by my birthday, 9-18-18. I will allow myself to include pieces I have done already, but they need to be drawings or paintings that are evidence of my best work so far.

By 3-6-18, I should have 33 pieces done.

By 6-12-18, I should have 67 pieces done.

By 9-18-18, I should have 100 pieces ready to catalog and prep for show.

Some numbers have significance for me.

Day 61 of 100

This accidental photo caught my eye.

I drew a sketch.

I prepped a canvas.

This is a masking fluid drawing I started yesterday and thought I was going to work on today.

Day 60 of 100

I have done a lot of knitting lately. Somehow painting seems like a chore. I tried using the early morning as paint time. That lasted three days. In the evenings I am too tired to paint, but knitting is something I can do while I rest.

This one was fun. I want to do more like this.
